Welcome to Truck Surfing Atitlan!

Vang Vieng's got tubing, Leon's got Volcano Boarding, and Lake Atitlan has Truck Surfing!

What is Truck Surfing exactly!?

Truck Surfing is when you take a Toyota pick up truck, fit it with all terrain tires, secure a couch to the back, add a cooler full of drinks and rip around the super volcano that is Lake Atitlan!!

Let's go Truck Surfing!

  • Overview:
  • Duration: 4 to 6 hours
  • Group size: minimum 2, maximum 6.
  • Meals: Breakfast & lunch included

Truck Surfing begins at 8:30 am with a breakfast burrito or mcmuffins at Mister Jons in Panajachel.

After you get fueled up, your truck will be waiting for you outside.

First we'll zip over to the mirador at Santa Catarina for a little introduction about the lake. Then we'll head into Santa Catarina proper. After a quick stop in town we'll head over to explore the next pueblo of San Antonio.

Let the Truck Surfing Challenge begin!

The road from San Antonio to the top of Atitlan's volcanic ridge is one of Lake Atitlan's most epic roads. Over the next 20 minutes you will either climb or descend, depending on road conditions, over 1,000 feet along this narrow dirt road. Expect jaw dropping views and a sensation of flying.

During this ride you'll get to partake in the Truck Surfing Challenge.

The challenge is simple, the guest who is able to surf the back of the truck without stepping off our "surfboard" the longest wins! Winners names will be forever recorded in our record book. They'll also get Q100 in credit to use or gift away, and a "I Truck surfed Lake Atitlan" souvenir.

Mirador Picnic

Once you make it to the top, you'll fly along the ridge of the super volcano until you reach the Mirador. Here you'll enjoy a picnic lunch while you watch paragliders leap from the cliffs.

FAQs

1) What should I bring?

Even though it might be hot in Pana, once we head up to the volcanic ridge, it will get chilly and it could even rain. We recommend wearing light clothes, but bringing a good windbreaker and long pants just in case. You'll also want to bring anything that will protect you from the sun, as you will be exposed most of the day.
